History & Significance

Bcharré is forever linked to Gibran Khalil Gibran, the Lebanese-American poet and painter whose book ‘The Prophet’ became one of the best-selling works of all time. Gibran was born here in 1883, and his tomb and a museum of his art now sit in a former monastery overlooking the valley he loved.
